“Gratitude is not only the greatest of virtues, but the parent of all the other.” – Cicero I just want to take a minute and remind everyone to be grateful for what they have in life, when you start to complain about not having the next best thing, or that you don’t have the “perfect” legs, arms or whatever….remember there are people out there struggling to find jobs, feed their families, fighting diseases like cancer, re-learning how to do daily things with one arm or leg, and so many more challenges I can’t even list them all. Take a minute each day to be grateful for your health and that of your loved ones...
Read MoreKnowing your body needs a break is different from an “excuse”. If you can feel yourself wearing down, give yourself a day off. I have been severely MIA the last few weeks mostly due to summer school and then due to other physical reasons. I have been very busy from summer school and last week I was feeling under the weather, I think just because I was run down. I don’t know if it’s allergies or a cold but I am still fighting a sore throat and congestion. When I feel like that I take a break from the gym because I know for me personally I need extra rest to recover. It’s not the end of the world if you physically need a break. In addition,...
Read MoreHappy Wednesday everyone!! “Dwelling on the negative simply contributes to its power.” Shirley MacLaine I like this quote because it seems like there is such unnecessary negativity that springs up in the world today. When they are real crisis occurring around the world in the form of tornados, hurricanes, earthquakes, etc. who wants to worry about the small petty things?? I bring this up because I came across a person’s “about me” the other day and the first few sentences describing them self was just putting down other people. When the first sentence describing your self is saying something negative about another group of people...
Read MoreThe fatkid and I had an amazing vacation visiting his family and the time flew by (10 days). I wish we could have stayed longer but at the same time I am glad to be home and getting back into the routine of everyday life. Yesterday I made a Costco trip and packed the fridge with our clean foods for the week. I made my favorite breakfast this morning, protein crepes with fresh berries and greek yogurt. Today I am going down to see my family and pick up the little dogs because my parents watched them while we were away so…no gym time. On another note I worked really hard to reach my personal fitness goals by June 1st and one of my friends told me about the...
Read MoreGod gave you a gift of 86,400 seconds today. Have you used one to say “thank you?” ~William A. WardHow can I not be thankful for all the blessing in my life when I get to wake up to this every morning and have my little family of the fatkid and three dogs with me. Morning coffee and Oatmeal bake I am truly best to have incredibly supportive parents and a younger brother who has been my hero since the day he was born. My friends, both the ones I have had for years and the new ones I have made this year are always encouraging and have taught me so many lessons in life. My boyfriend is so supportive of me and was the...
Read More“It’s not that some people have willpower and some don’t… It’s that some people are ready to change and others are not.” — James Gordon (This is my very first post from Skinny “Fatkids” and for some reason it didn’t import correctly so I had to re-post it. Feb. 26, 2011) I love this quote…I am a big believer not only in the fact that you can’t change other people, but also in the fact that unless you are really and truly ready to change for yourself - it won’t happen. There are too many excuses, too many outs, too many things to blame failure on. I decided to back to school this year...
