baked eggs and a cooler for the day

First let me preface this with the fact that I have tried a hundred dozen different ways to get the elusive ‘perfect’ hard boiled egg and they are either undercooked – which grosses me out. OR they are so hard to peel the Fatkid cries about it and makes me do it for him – plus you always lose a ton of the white when they are hard to peel. So I pinned this the other day and decided to try it last night. BAKED EGGS! Who knew?? Seriously though – who knew this and hadn’t told me yet??? I put my eggs in a muffin tin and  preheat the oven to 325. I baked them for 30 minutes and then took one out, cooled it in water really quick and...

iTRAIN {product review}

So I have mentioned before how much I love yoga BUT I am a broke student and there is no way I can afford yoga regularly right now. Lucky for me, a friend of mine who works at a publishing company sent me a gift card to try iTRAIN and I love it. iTRAIN is an online program that various well known trainers have contributed to and basically you download their voice guided workouts to your MP3 player and take them on the go. While they are voice guided, they are also set to music to keep you pumped up during the workouts. This is a screenshot from their ‘Workouts‘ page. I was obviously most excited about the iSTRETCH category because of the Yoga and Pilates...

balsamic chicken and grilled artichoke

balsamic chicken and grilled artichoke

So this is kind of two recipes in one. I got this idea from Natalie Hodson and her rosemary chicken recipe. But I did tweak it a little based on what I had in the house and what we like. Recipe #1 Grilled Artichoke This is insanely easy and so good. I have loved artichoke since I was a kid and my mom always used to make it, but this was my first time cooking it. This is post boil – pre grill. 1. Fill a large pan with a few inches of water and juice from 1 lemon. 2. Put whole artichokes in and bring to a boil. 3. Cover and cook for 20 minutes. Pre-heat grill to medium. 4. Take the artichokes out and let them cool. Then cut them in half length wise and scoop out...

BlenderBottle SportMixer {give away}

I am super excited about this give away for you guys today (mostly because I am obsessed with it) and was thrilled when Allison contacted me from BlenderBottle letting me know about their new product and this opportunity. a quick recap and a little surprise

So I just wanted to give you guys a quick recap of our weekend and my awesome surprise from the Fatkid First off – I went to Fire Daughter and met Samya – she is just as gorgeous and sweet in person! If you haven’t checked out her stuff, you need to. I don’t know if you saw me post it on Facebook, but I asked my old trainer/friend for a new leg workout and while we were talking I mentioned I loved having a trainer for legs because then I can lift heavier (since I have a spotter). He was talking to the Fatkid about it later that day and when the Fatkid came home Friday night he told me I have a trainer again – wahoo!! I am going to be...

i’m back!! and sleeping in my clothes..

Well, I am happy to say that this morning I finally felt like myself again in the gym. I have been in a major rut lately between being sick (literally I had a sinus infection for about a month), summer school, wedding stuff, work, etc. I have been having a really hard time getting into and enjoying my workouts and have kind of just been going through the motions. Yesterday was an incredibly long day – I left my house at 7am and didn’t leave work until 9pm. I went home, showered and put on my gym clothes. To make sure I got up this morning (at 5am) I tried this whole, sleeping in your clothes thing. It wasn’t as uncomfortable as I thought it would be...

Jacked Pack {review 3}

This is my third month with Jacked Pack and I am still really enjoying the goodies in it. Unfortunately I totally spaced taking a picture before we started using everything this month and so you just get one from the website I had the Power Crunch bar today during class (I was starving and couldn’t wait till my break). It basically tastes like a not too sweet chocolate wafer. I felt a little guilty I didn’t give it to the Fatkid since that’s more his style…oops. I was super excited that there was also a sample from ON because I have been wanting to try their protein for a while and this was the perfect way for me to sample it. It was chocolate...

planning a wedding and remembering loved ones :)

So we I spent last week interviewing photographers and then talking about them with the Fatkid. It. Was. Exhausting. I was running to lunch meetings between class and work or going after work and getting home super late. It was incredibly hard to decide between our final two and it really came down to personality and (let’s be honest) budget. I loved Kacey from About Love. and she and her sister Taylor grew up with my best friend and also photographed her wedding. She was also the first person I met with and I hate making decisions without having all the necessary info and so I felt like I needed to meet with more people prior to deciding. I met with three...
