new workout – arms and legs

So I am loving my new workout and I have to say I killed arms yesterday. I was so glad my biceps were sore today :)

Today I did legs and abs and although the workout takes a while it felt good to be lifting heavy on my legs again and really pushing myself. I am a teeny bit bummed because I couldn’t do my wide squats at the beginning and they were actually my LAST thing due to gym traffic. That meant I was taxed and couldn’t go up in weight which I really wanted to do, but I still got 155 (110+45lb bar) so I’m not too upset :)

Also, FitFluential is starting a new thing called #PROOF on Twitter where you tweet or post pics about your workout for the day. I would LOVE if you guys joined me and shared your #PROOF too.

I also have some pretty exciting news. :) I have been thinking about it since last year and I have finally found a competition that I can fit into my schedule. April is too soon and the one in May I will be out of town for, so I registered for one with the NPC in July. I am super excited and can’t wait to share this journey with you guys like I did my LiveFit :) I may even have to find a way to post pictures for you. I am thinking I will do bikini because it will be hard for me to put on enough muscle for figure and to be honest, even though those girls all look amazing, I think it may be a little much on my small frame.

I am not going to worry about prepping for it (hardcore) until after finals so my next few weeks will still look like this with the intention of gaining muscle. Have a great night!

Have any of you competed and if so any words of advice?

  1. Where did you get your journal? im on phase two with live fit and that would make it so much easier. thanks for sharing you journey.

    • Just from my gym for free :) but most book stores sell them. I LOVE writing everything down :) good luck with the trainer!

  2. You go girl!!! Your going to rock it!!! I can’t wait to read all about your journey!!

  3. That’s awesome! Can’t wait to follow your journey :) Good choice picking Bikini. I’d pick that division also. The girls are beautiful in figure too though.

    • Thanks Lisa :) Agreed! I also don’t think I would be able to build enough muscle for figure in 3 months :) it’s hard for me to gain.

  4. Such exciting news!! You are going to kill it! You’re already way ahead of the game with your knowledge of and dedication to clean eating and training. So awesome :) I’m less than 3 weeks out from my first Figure compeition and getting more excited/nervous as the days pass! My biggest words of advice at this stage of the game are 1. always remember what YOUR goal is at the end of the day and 2. learn to LOVE chicken and white fish!! Love your blog and can’t wait to follow along about your journey to the stage. All the best :)

    • Kat that is so exciting!! How did you decide between Bikini and Figure? I am going back and forth. I can’t wait to see how you do and am so excited for the next few months :) thanks for the advice!

  5. Awesome job on the squats! Just curious though, how are you able to keep the bar across your back without any padding? It absolutely KILLS my back/shoulders WITH padding!

    • Thanks Wendy! I have actually never used a pad because I feel like I have less control of the bar :) but I get bar burns on the back of my neck – the Fatkid makes fun of me for them!

  6. Awesome for you, girl! I have the goal of competing in figure in June, but after having 2 babies in the space of a year, I’m not sure if I’ll feel comfortable on stage in a bikini. We’ll see! I say go for it and reach out to anyone who has experience. Be confident in who you are and compare yourself to no one. You’ll rock it!

    • You should do it! Some of the most amazing women in Fitness (Kim Dolan Leto for one) are moms :) Thanks for the advice, I am going to need it because I am super nervous just from committing to it. :)

  7. Yay! How exciting! I think I’ve looked at the NPC schedule at least 100 times since they released it, but I’ve just gone back and forth too much weighing the pros and cons so decided not to. I’m super excited for you and I totally want to go to your competition! Is it a local one?

    • Yup it’s local and you totally have to come :) hopefully I can get my chicken legs built up in time!

  8. I, too am toying with the idea of competing. It will be great to hear your take on it. I LOVE your blog – recipes, encouragement, and motivation. Thanks for your honesty & sharing!

    • Thanks Lisa! I have been thinking about it for a while and figured this might be my last chance for a while due to school stuff :) I’m super nervous but also really excited.

  9. You’re SO going to rock it lady! I can’t wait to follow your journey! :-D

  10. YAYY!! I love that you’re going to COMPETE!! I do it for a goal and it seems that’s what you’re thinking too! GET IT GIRL and I’ll help any way I can! ;]

    • Thanks so much Kasey! I just want to do it at least once :) I will definitely pick your brain as it gets closer!

  11. I am SOOOOOOOOOOO excited for you!!! Ahhh I wish I lived close so I could come!! You already look competition ready to me so I can’t even imagine what you’re going to look like by the time May rolls around!!

    • Thanks girly :) I am super excited but major nervous! It’s actually not until July because of what I have going on with school so I have no excuses!
