the "girly" protein pancake and day 30!!

Day 30: Today I woke up early to go to the gym before studying and they were closed!! They don’t open until 8 on Saturdays which was a major bummer. Since I had to get my 30 minutes in this morning because I won’t be able to later, I came home and did ball exercises: crunches, pushups, bridges, etc. not quite what I had in mind but it worked. That is 30 days of a new healthy habit!! Wow, I am actually pretty excited to realize that I did it: at least 30 minutes of physical activity a day for the entire month of April. “Obstacles are what we see when we lose sight of our goals.” Than it was breakfast time!! I love breakfast, it’s...

natural protein powder

Last night’s post didn’t quite make it out due to lots of cleaning… Day 29: Lifting and 30 minutes cardio Today consisted of more studying and then the shoulder/tricep and ab* workout from earlier in the week. We had to go to Costco today because we are completely out of everything to eat so of course the kitchen looked like this when we got home. I also am really excited because I got my IsoPure Natural today – nothing added and no artificial flavoring – to bake with.  After a dinner of steak (marinated in worcestershire, A1, salt, pepper, horseradish, garlic and evoo), salad and sauteed veggies...

thanks legs

Day 28: AM/PM Incline Treadmill for 20 minutes each. Hour of weight lifting. Today was long and studying was hard…but I cheered up when we got to the gym because it was leg day!! I love leg day, I know a lot of people don’t but I am a huge fan. Weirdly enough a lot of guys I talk to hate lifting legs and most of the girls I know (who lift) enjoy it. I like it not only because I feel like it is a harder workout than my other body parts usually are. But also, I am so very thankful for my legs, even though they are skinny, they are strong and have allowed me to do so much. Swim team, college cheerleading, hiking the beautiful mountains in out city,...

back and bicep blaster

So after studying – or attempting to understand con law – all morning, Kate and I, and Mike headed to the gym. I have to give him credit for working out with two chicks in public Today was back and bicep day with the shortened abs from Monday – only the * ones.  Biceps Cable Curl 3×10 Hammer Twist Preacher Curl Isolated Curl Laying Pull Ups Back T Bar Row 3×10 Narrow Pull down Pull Ups Seated Row Bent Over Row Back Extensions We did funny super sets today because there were three of us so I didn’t break it up that way. My arms were definitely tired by the...

protein packed pancakes

Day 27: Lifting this afternoon – I slept in past my morning cardio – oops. So we all know that I have been doing protein bakes to make sure I get my protein in the morning but the fatkid doesn’t like oatmeal (weirdo) so he just does cereal with fruit in the am. I have been working on him getting his protein in the morning so today I decided to make him protein pancakes. I adapted this recipe from  the fitnessista. Ingredients: 1 scoop Syntha-6 vanilla protein – this is a LARGE scoop and the man’s protein powder 2 tbsp whole wheat flour 1 tbsp ground flaxseed 3/4 tsp baking powder 3 tsp cinnamon sprinkle nutmeg 1 egg 1/4 cup unflavored...

sexy shoulders and arms

Day 26I started my morning out with 20 minutes of high intensity internal cardio on the elliptical and then was studying all day. For a brain break, this afternoon Kate and I did our new shoulder/tricep workout. By the second to last super set my arms were failing. I only did 8 reps on the last tricep exercise but I know our arms are going to be killer for tank tops I reeeealy wanted another apple bake when I got home but since I had it for breakfast I decided to make a smoothie. Ingredients: 1 cup crushed ice1 cup fat free milk1 tbsp all natural (no sugar) almond butter1 scoop vanilla whey protein1 tbsp ground flaxseed1 cup frozen mixed berries Blend and sip...

legs for summer shorts

Day 25 Good thing I start my day out with this! I did an 1/8 of my bake again and to get the extra protein I had 1/2 cup of non fat greek yogurt with it. Soooooo good – basically a muffin with cream cheese – but way better for you As I mentioned yesterday my friend Kate and I have a plan we are going to stick to while studying for finals. AM: will be  cardio of our choice, or yoga. PM: Monday Legs/Abs Tuesday Shoulders/Tris Wednesday Back/Bis/Abs Thursday Legs Friday Abs/Cardio Saturday Cardio/Day Off Sunday Legs This is the new leg workout for the next three weeks. catching up

4/21: back and shoulder lifting and 20 minutes on treadmill 4/22: 30 minutes on elliptical – made it after HH – that’s pretty amazing. 4/23: total body with glute focus and weighted abs 4/24: 2 hours mountain biking Once again I have to apologize (if anyone read this beside my mom and those close friends who already know I am super overwhelmed) but school is crazy right now with finals coming up so not only do I not have time to blog but also nothing I eat has been very exciting…mostly due to lack of time. It’s pretty much banana bake, chicken and sweet potatoes, turkey burgers and fruits and veggies. Once I have something more awesome to...

muffin frittatas

Healthy Habit Day 20: 20 minutes on treadmill this am and lifting this afternoon. What’s in my cooler today (a looong day): Greek yogurt with berries and granola. Chicken with salad and sweet potato. Turkey burger with red peppers and orange. I have been wanting to try a frittata but make it more of a grab and go muffin, so I did. I’m not sure how I feel about this, I think it may need a more traditional breakfast taste for me. Ingredients: 3 Whole eggs 4 Egg whites 1/2 cup cooked ground turkey 3/4 cup chopped broccoli 1/2 cup chopped zucchini 3/4 cup chopped onion 1 cup chopped spinach Pepper Cayenne pepper Hot sauce Directions: Beat eggs and...
